NetSuite Upgrades and Release Preview accounts

NetSuite Upgrades and Release Preview accounts

From time to time NetSuite upgrades their platform. Major releases occur approximately twice a year and are designated (currently) by incrementing the year (or the point). eg. 2019.1, 2019.2, 2020.1

These releases are accompanied by NetSuite giving your System Administrator Access to a Release Preview account for a short period of time. The intention behind these accounts is to be able to test customizations and integrations without the need of a sandbox and on your current (and real) data.

At SuiteRetail, our development accounts are upgraded well in advanced of the first NetSuite release cycle. We try our best to ensure things work (and normally they do). However, we cannot test every possible configuration of SuitePOS and therefore the responsibility is on the customer to test.  In other words, you must test your current version of SuitePOS, prior to any upgrades of NetSuite.

When testing in Release Preview accounts, you have to be careful not to run live transactions for credit card processing or calls to Avatax (if applicable). You can either disable/not perform these functions, run these functions using an Avatax/Credit Card test account and/or you can perform these functions but you must reverse them out with the credit card processor or Avatax (if applicable).

Release Preview accounts must be set up on our License Server. Contact Support

Release Preview accounts are set up free of charge and we include all the modules you purchased. The terminal count, however, is lowered since this is a test environment.
