Release Preview and Sandbox accounts

Release Preview and Sandbox accounts

From time to time NetSuite upgrades their platform. Major releases occur approximately twice a year and are designated (currently) by incrementing the year (or the point). eg. 2019.1, 2019.2, 2020.1

These releases are accompanied by NetSuite giving your System Administrator Access to a NetSuite Release Preview account for a short period of time. The intention behind these accounts is to be able to test customizations and integrations without the need of a sandbox and on your current (and real) data.

At SuiteRetail, our development accounts are upgraded well in advanced of the first NetSuite release cycle. We try our best to ensure things work (and normally they do). However, we cannot test every possible configuration of SuitePOS and therefore the responsibility is on the customer to test.  In other words, you must test your current version of SuitePOS, prior to any upgrades of NetSuite.

It is advisable to upgrade to the latest version of SuitePOS (non-beta) well in advance of any pending release from NetSuite. Prior versions may not work on the new release.
When testing in Release Preview accounts and/or Sandboxes, you have to be careful not to run live transactions for credit card processing or calls to Avatax (if applicable). You can either disable/not perform these functions and/or you can perform these functions but you must reverse them out with the credit card processor or Avatax (if applicable).

Requesting Release Preview or Sandbox SuitePOS Accounts

Both of these types of accounts need to be setup on our license server.  Release Preview accounts are temporary in nature and reference a NetSuite Preview account. These accounts are free ree of charge and we include all the modules you purchased. The terminal count, however, is lowered since this is a test environment.  To request a Release Preview account, please provide the NetSuite Account Number of the Preview Account and submit a support case.

SuitePOS Sandbox accounts are paid SuitePOS accounts that are used on a on-going basis for training and testing upgrades.  To request a Sandbox Account, please submit a sales case.
